A Constructive Evolutionary Approach to Linear Gate Assignment Problems
نویسنده
چکیده
We present in this paper an application of the Constructive Genetic Algorithm (CGA) to the Linear Gate Assignment Problem (LGAP). The LGAP happen in very large scaling integration (VLSI) design, and can be described as a problem of assigning a set of circuit nodes (gates) in an optimal sequence, such that the layout area is minimized. The CGA has a number of new features compared to a traditional genetic algorithm. These include a dynamic population size composed of schemata and structures, and the possibility of using heuristics in structure representation and in the fitness function definitions. Computational tests are presented using available instances taken from the literature.

A New Approach for Solving Grey Assignment Problems
Linear assignment problem is one of the most important practical models in the literature of linear programming problems. Input data in the cost matrix of the linear assignment problem are not always crisp and sometimes in the practical situations is formulated by the grey systems theory approach. In this way, some researchers have used a whitening technique to solve the grey assignment p...
متن کاملApproximate Pareto Optimal Solutions of Multi objective Optimal Control Problems by Evolutionary Algorithms
In this paper an approach based on evolutionary algorithms to find Pareto optimal pair of state and control for multi-objective optimal control problems (MOOCP)'s is introduced. In this approach, first a discretized form of the time-control space is considered and then, a piecewise linear control and a piecewise linear trajectory are obtained from the discretized time-control space using ...
متن کاملAn Evolutionary Non-Linear Great Deluge Approach for Solving Course Timetabling Problems
The aim of this paper is to extend our non-linear great deluge algorithm into an evolutionary approach by incorporating a population and a mutation operator to solve the university course timetabling problems. This approach might be seen as a variation of memetic algorithms. The popularity of evolutionary computation approaches has increased and become an important technique in solving complex ...
متن کاملBenders’ decomposition algorithm to solve bi-level bi-objective scheduling of aircrafts and gate assignment under uncertainty
Management and scheduling of flights and assignment of gates to aircraft play a significant role to improve the performance of the airport, due to the growing number of flights and decreasing the flight times. This research addresses the assignement and scheduling problem of runways and gates simultaneously. Moreover, this research is the first study that considers the constraint of unavailabil...
